Prof. Dr. Hartmut Leser is the management spokesman for Frankfurt-based company FREO Germany GmbH, as well as CIO and Partner of the FREO Group. From 2007 to 2022, Prof. Dr. Leser was CEO of abrdn Investments Deutschland AG. During that time he established abrdn as the leading foreign choice for investment management in Germany and Austria with over €40 billion of assets under management. Before that, Leser was Managing Partner at FERI with responsibility for the Investment Consulting division. As Portfolio Manager, Head of Equities and Head of Portfolio Management, he was previously employed at Metzler Investment GmbH and Credit Suisse Deutschland. Prof. Dr. Leser is an Honorary Professor at the WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management, where he teaches asset management. Leser studied Economics and Finance and the universities of Mannheim, Saarbrücken, London School of Economics and University of Michigan (Ann Arbor). He graduated with a Masters degree in Economics having written his dissertation about international financial markets. Among his various social commitments, Prof. Dr. Leser is on the board of trustees of the Aventis Foundation.
