Building work on the JED 2226 project in Schlieren, Switzerland is about to start. The initial site preparation work is already underway. As project developer, general planner and construction manager, FREO was involved from the outset in the project “New Build JED 2226” in Schlieren, Switzerland. Together with an outstanding team, it laid the groundwork for a revolutionary office building based on the principle Zero Energy – Building Concept 2226.

JED 2226 is FREOs first development of a Zero Energy building. Other projects based on the 2226 building concept are planned for the future. The revolutionary office building in Schlieren, in the Canton of Zurich, functions without heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. The indoor climate is self-regulated and monitored by sensors. This unique, sustainable building concept in tandem with the architecture makes it possible to achieve far lower running costs than conventional buildings.

The 2226 building concept is the brainchild of Professor Dietmar Eberle, from Baumschlager Eberle Architekten. He sums up the benefits of the revolutionary building concept as follows: “It’s all about comfort. Energy savings and the associated economic benefits are just the welcome consequences of our concept, which works without using up valuable resources.”

The overall JED project is located at the gateway to Zurich and integrated in an innovative business environment. It stands on the former site of the NZZ print centre at Schlieren railway station. By spring 2023, this location is set to be probably the most innovative working environment in all Switzerland. JED offers unique office and commercial spaces to rent as well as a wide range of services and diverse catering options. The name JED is entirely appropriate for the sustainable office buildings being erected on this site, standing as it does for Join. Explore. Dare. No further explanation is required.

FREO Switzerland AG is delighted to be able to support such an innovative and sustainable project so closely and to see it through to a successful conclusion.
